Lowering emissions and pushing for clean energy are major pieces of the puzzle. Now is the time to take the fight a step further and fortify our coastline against already rising sea levels. Throughout the state, there are toxic or dangerous facilities that sit treacherously close to the water, simply waiting to be inundated with flooding from extreme rain or storm surge.
Nowhere is this clearer than in Providence’s Washington Park neighborhood. Shell Oil is putting the community and Narragansett Bay at risk by failing to prepare its Providence terminal for flooding and other climate impacts.
