But Conservation Law Foundation attorney David Ismay says ISO is basing those fears on overly pessimistic, even unrealistic assumptions.
“There’s a bit of Chicken Little, ‘sky is falling,’ ” he says. “The reports were about rolling blackouts in almost every scenario, and my gosh, it looks horrible. And we just don’t see any support for that.”
Earlier this year, the other groups asked ISO to run what Ismay calls a more likely, “business-as-usual” scenario.
