James is a staff attorney with CLF’s Strategic Litigation team. James comes to CLF after working as an attorney at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and in private practice. James was a staff attorney for EPA’s Environmental Appeals Board in Washington DC where he worked on permit and penalty appeals under most of the environmental statutes. James was an environmental litigation associate in the Boston office of a New England law firm where he worked on complex litigation and regulatory counseling over contaminated sites and emerging contaminants. Before and during law school, James worked at the Natural Resources Defense Council, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, U.S. EPA Region 7, and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environmental Enforcement Section.
James holds a B.A. from Grinnell College, a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, and an M.P.H. in toxicology and risk assessment from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. James lives in Boston and enjoys backpacking, skiing, soccer, and gardening.
