Cynthia Pansing is CLF’s Interim Vice President for Healthy and Resilient Communities, which comprises Community Resilience, Farm and Food, Impact Investing, and Research and Partnerships. Most recently, she was a CLF Senior Fellow, a nonprofit consultant, and the founding executive director of Berkshire Agricultural Ventures serving MA, NY and CT farms and food businesses.
Over the years, Cynthia has served in nonprofit, government agency, university, cross-sector network and consultancy leadership positions. Her areas of focus have included sustainable agriculture and food systems; farmland preservation; water quality improvement and conservation; coastal restoration; transportation and air quality; clean energy; environmental justice; livable communities; climate resilience; and impact investment. Her work in these areas has ranged from community-based, regional and statewide programs to multidisciplinary university research, outreach and education initiatives to market-based strategies and policy development. Her special areas of organizational development expertise include strategic planning, grants writing, systems analysis, and impact evaluation. Her work has been featured in popular media and peer-reviewed journals.
Cynthia holds BA and MA degrees in Anthropology and an MA in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is a Fellow with the international Sustainability Leaders Network.
She lives with her family in the Berkshires, MA. She enjoys hiking, photography, making sourdough bread, and tending to her native pollinator garden.
