Implementing Our Laws
To cut carbon pollution, we need bold local action. Every New England state except New Hampshire has taken such action by passing laws that require drastic cuts to climate-warming emissions. Now, we’re working to put those laws into motion.
CLF in Action
CLF played an instrumental role in passing laws in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont that require each state to reduce its carbon pollution every year.
But laws without action are just empty promises.
Climate change isn’t waiting—neither should New England. That’s why CLF is at the table in every state, ensuring our governments follow the laws they passed and support the well-being of the people they represent. Whether providing state administrations with roadmaps on implementing laws or filing lawsuits to demand action, CLF is fighting tirelessly to protect everything we love about our home.
What’s at Stake
Climate change is a problem that we can’t put off. Every year, more extreme weather floods our neighborhoods. Increasingly devastating heat waves are putting lives in danger. And winters are growing milder and milder, throwing our economies off balance. Our health, futures, and environment are at risk.
State governments must take the lead in creating solutions that protect New Englanders and get us to 100% clean energy. We cannot allow them to cut corners in fully implementing the laws that require slashing carbon pollution overheating our planet – or let New Hampshire off the hook for not having such a law at all.
Our families deserve better than fear of hard choices when our way of life and our future are at stake. We need our state leaders to step up and do what’s right – protecting the people we love and the region we call home.
